Review of Queen’s - Accident & Emergency
14th May 2024

Staff were all amazing and doing their best in a bad situation. Hospital is overwhelmed with patients some of which could be health centre/GP sorted but they are probably struggling to get an appointment and put more pressure on A&E

Suggested improvements
Your medical staff couldn’t do anything better. Cleaning staff need to check soap in toilets not just bins and toilet roll!

Even though the a and e department was extremely busy the staff were polite and friendly and the doctor who saw me was excellent it is a thankless job working in this department as you can’t please everyone but on my visit I was very pleased keep up the good work

Suggested improvements
The s dec unit is too small for the volume of traffic it deals with but that is not a criticism of the staff they were excellent the hospital seems to be too small to deal with such a high demand on its services

The ambulance team and all doctors and nurses were very good and caring. Were I found confusion was from the Friday that I was told that I needed a ctscan before I could come home but by Saturday pm still wasn’t done And I was discharged and told that I would have to come back this week for the scan and I would get an appointment. Today my husband was told that the scan was cancelled and couldn’t get more info. I have an appointment for the 27 of May at the general surgery hot clinic in writing and I presume I should have had the scan done for it. I do not want to cancell that appointment especially that I am in quite a bit of disconfort and I would appreciate some answers

Suggested improvements
Just a clearer situation as I told above

I was invited to see the Stroke team direct and was able to bypass the lengthy A&E waits. I had my investigations promptly and treated with utmost professional courtesy by the team and now have my follow-up appointment too. Very pleased with the treatment so far. Well done and keep it up.

Suggested improvements
Better signposting as the A&E department is quite large and complex, it is easy for patients to get confused.
